Rev. Steven J. Roper
 

Pastor Steve is unique to the ministry in that he serves his home church. Born and raised in Marion and at Trinity Baptist, Pastor Steve serves as the Pastor of Adult Ministries. He graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1988 and went on to The Ohio State University where he graduated in 1992 with a BA in Communications.

Upon graduating from OSU, Pastor Steve worked in banking for 5 years before receiving his call to full-time ministry. In 1997, he entered Ashland Theological Seminary in Ashland, OH where he completed his Master of Divinity degree in 1999.

In March of 2000, Trinity extended the call to Steve to become the Pastor of Adult Ministries. At Trinity, Pastor Steve is responsible for coordinating and overseeing worship and small groups. He leads the adult education at Trinity and the men’s ministry as well. In addition, he assists Pastor Rick in other pastoral duties such as visitation, preaching, weddings, and funerals.

Pastor Steve is married to Sheila, his high school sweetheart. They have been married for 13 years. They are the proud parents of two boys, Caleb age 6 and Joshua age 1½.

Pastor Steve enjoys softball, golfing, the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns. So, he has learned what it means to suffer. He also likes spending time with Sheila and the boys. He likes watching home improvement shows, MASH, and Law & Order.

He has been influenced by Christian authors such as Max Lucado, Charles Ryrie, Steve Farrar, Paul Little, Charles Swindoll, Bill Hybels, and Henry Blackaby.

Pastor Steve loves the Lord with all his heart and counts it a privilege to be able to serve Him.
