Dr. Richard Farmer
    - Senior Pastor -

       Dr. Richard "Rick" Farmer grew up in Southern WV. He is a graduate from Welch High School in 1978, and attended both Virginia Tech and Concord College, where he played college baseball for four years. He graduated from Concord College with a B A in Psychology in 1983.

       Upon graduation, he immediately accepted a call to the ministry, accepting a position with the Coalition For Christian Outreach, a regional campus ministry organization serving campus' in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and WV. He worked with this organization for ten years, receiving extensive theological and ministry training, and serving on the campus' of Salem College West Virginia University. During this time he completed work on his M. A. in Counseling Psychology at WVU and his Master of Divinity at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. In 1987 he married Kim, a member of First Baptist Church in Morgantown, WV, and in 1992 shared in the birth of their first and only son, Joshua. 

       Pastor Rick accepted his first call to the Pastorate in 1993. It was a small country church in the suburbs of Morgantown, Goshen Baptist Church, and he was their first full time Pastor. During these years at Goshen he also worked six to eight hours a week at the Morgantown Pastoral Counseling Center, serving anywhere from four to eight clients a week. In 2001 he accepted a call to the congregation in Weston WV. In March of 2004 Pastor Rick accepted a call from First Baptist Church in Fairmont, WV.


       In March of 2007 God led Pastor Rick to our congregation, Trinity Baptist Church, Marion, Ohio. Within the first two months of his arrival he completed his Doctoral of Ministry Degree from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. We are looking forward to many years of ministry with Dr. Farmer and his family.

       Dr. Farmer has been powerfully influenced by the writings of C. S. Lewis, David Wells, Ed Wheat, John White, Eugene Peterson, M Scott Peck, J. I. Packer, Barbara Johnson, Rebecca Pippert, Lewis Smedes, R. C. Sproul, Richard Carlson, and Charles Stanley.

          Cathy Hughes
 - Director of Children's Ministries -

       Cathy grew up in Marion, Ohio and returns to Trinity Baptist Church to serve as the Acting      Director of Children’s Ministries following a time of service in China. She is a graduate of  Otterbein University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature with a    secondary education endorsement.

       In 1992 Cathy answered the call to serve in China with a Christian teaching organization.  
After a two year return to America when she taught at a local Christian school in Marion, she went back to work in China until her permanent return to the States in June 2012.  While in China, she received a Master of Arts degree from the Azusa Pacific University in the field of TESOL.

       As the newest member to the Trinity staff, Cathy joined the team in August of 2012.  She is blessed to see how God is impacting the lives of the children at Trinity and in the community.  Her heart is to see families transformed by the grace of Jesus Christ.

       Cathy just received her Master of Divinity degree from Ashland Theological Seminary and aspires to become a hospital chaplain where she hopes to minister to children and the elderly.

       Cathy warmly invites families with children to join our weekly children’s ministries.
   Amy Washburn
 - Youth Director -

       Amy Washburn has been working with the youth at Trinity Baptist Church since 2011 as a youth leader.  In Januray of 2016, she was asked to take on the role as Youth Director.  She gladly accepted the call and is throughoughly enjoying the time she spends ministering to the youth of TBC.
      Amy is a Marion native and graduated from River Valley.  She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and a Master of Education degree in Middle Childhood Education from The Ohio State University.  She has been a teacher at River Valley Middle School since 2008.
      Amy is blessed to be called "Mom" by her wonderful son, Dalton.  He is the reason she does what she does.  She and Dalton share their home with their canine friends, Reagan and Fergie.
   Sheryl Simmons
 - Office Administrator -

       Sheryl Simmons has been married to Harry Simmons since 1985, and has three children, Amy, Sarah and Michael. She is a graduate of Taylor University, and has lived in Marion all of her life.
